European Parliament Candidate to Meet Grantham People

The Liberal Democrat Member of the European parliament, Bill Newton Dunn, will

visit Grantham next Saturday, May 23, for a walk about starting at the town's market to talk to local people as part of his campaign for the European Parliament elections on June 4. when he will stand for re-election.

He will be accompanied by members of the Grantham and Stamford Liberal Party including Harrish Bisnauthsing, prospective parliamentary candidate for the Grantham and Stamford constituency.

Bill Newton Dunn has been a member of the European Parliament for 30 years since 1979 making him one of the longest serving members. Originally a Conservative he represented Lincolnshire from 1979 to 1994 and the East Midlands from 1999.

He recently topped the list of members for attendance and activity over the last five years.

A former chairman of Conservatives in the European Parliament he crossed over to the Liberal Democrats in 2000 because he was concerned about what he believed to be the negative attitude of Conservatives to the European Union. He has since become one of the leading and influential members of the Liberal Democrat Party.
